The Ladies of the Krewe of Hera take to the streets on Lundi Gras in Metairie preceeding the Krewe of Zeus on their in inaugural procession. Guarded secrecy surrounds this Krewe including it's theme (which is usually not kept secret for Metairie Parades). It's leaders go by nicknames like Sista Soul, Sista Roll but they point out that Twisted Sista's are Not only Welcomed but Celebrated. Revere Her Above All Others. Hail Hera!

The first Mardi Gras in America was celebrated in Mobile, Alabama in 1703. In 2007, it is still racially segregated.
