the Krewe of Oshun
Founded in 1997, The official parade calendar of the carnival season
in New Orleans kicks off with the Krewe of Oshun. Leading the parade
is the captain on a peacock float. Featuring over 20 floats, several
bands and even a appearence of the Baby Doll this krewe has delighted
parade goers for years. the Krewe of Oshun is named for the Yoruba
goddess of love and intimacy and their king is apptly called “Shango.”
